A capacitive sensor has two metal electrodes that form a capacitor, similar to an "open" capacitor. When power is applied, the RC oscillator in the circuit does not oscillate. As an object gets closer to the electrodes, the capacitance increases, causing the oscillator to start oscillating. The sensor can detect both metal and non-metal objects. Metallic objects can be detected from a greater distance, while the detection distance for non-metallic objects depends on their dielectric constant—the higher the constant, the greater the detection distance.

The working principle of the photoelectric switch is that when the beam emitted by the emitter is blocked or partly reflected by the object, the beam receiver whereby makes a judgment and reacts.

Not recommended for areas with heavy vibrations.
 

Photoelectric switch reflectors are used in sensors to reflect light back to the sensor, allowing for object detection. They are helpful in various applications and work well in metal environments. The detection distance depends on how reflective the object is. These sensors are not ideal for areas with a lot of vibration.
